If you freak out at formula or tremble at transisitors then this site is for you!

I’ve always been interested in electronics from a young age, but I’d never really sat down to learn it properly.

So when I HAD to learn as part of my studies for the Radio Amateurs Exam, I started looking around the web for videos and tutorials that might explain things in more simple terms. I’m sharing them here with you in the hope that you might find them useful too.

Keep checking back – I’ll be adding new stuff all the time.

Hi John, no idea if you still get comments via this old web page. My son and I have occasionally listened to you on the Hexham/Corbridge repeater, the one close to the (former) Errington Arms. Anyway, long story short, we’ve just moved house to the south of Hexham, now live in a house that once belonged to an amateur radio guy. We think his name is Bernard Start. Does anyone recognise that name in the HAM radio community? We think he’s still in Corbridge, now in his 80s. My son’s room is what must have been the workshop, at least a dozen double power sockets mid-way around the room. Took some de-cluttering! In the 80s Bernard got planning permission to put up a mast (type AT 52, Altron 18metres high!) My son is into electronics as well, would love to take his foundation license one of these days. Anyway, our reception is a bit down now, but we’ll catch you on a Tuesday night (one way for now). Cheers. Chris

Hi Chris, thank you for your comment! Yes luckily I still get notifications even though I haven’t updated the website in years.
It’s great to know that you and your son sometimes listen in to the Tuesday night net. This is how many of us started in amateur radio, as listeners.
I’ll send you a private email and if you would like, I can give you and your son a mention on air tonight if you’re listening.
Very interesting that you now live in a house once owned by a radio ham. I don’t recognise the name but I’m sure someone will.
I’ve taken the liberty of reposting your comment on our clubs Facebook group to see if anyone knows Bernard Start.
You’re welcome to join the group and follow any replies your post may get. It’s at https://www.facebook.com/groups/331600043599868/ and we also have a website at https://anarc.net
Great that your son has a keen interest in electronics. It’s a fascinating hobby and can also lead on to many rewarding careers.
We regularly run Foundation License courses at The Angel of the North Amateur Radio Club and your son is welcome to join one whenever he is ready.
    Best wishes, John M0MLY!
